A physical therapist can help a child with:
- Gross motor delays such as a child that is unable to roll by 6 months or skip by 4 years of age
- Poor coordination and/or balance such as a child who falls frequently or is viewed as "clumsy"
- Weakness and low endurance such as a child that cannot keep up with his or her peers or who tires easily

- Impairments due to a specific neurological or orthopedic condition such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and sprains and fractures
A physical therapist can also assess a child's need for equipment and orthotics.
